Huawei OptiXtrans 908 - the optical interconnection of data centers at the speed of light

Many people probably remember the time not so long ago when the interconnection of different data centers was mainly about security and accessibility, or Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity. With today's complex DC environments and vast amounts of data, it is also about second-hand continuous load balancing, cloud services with access to both physical and virtual resources, automated rollout and distribution, simplified management, and maximum security.

All this requires transmission at the speed of light, i.e. optically via fiber cable for the most critical traffic. The central concept here is Data Center Interconnect (DCI), and here Pedab's partner Huawei has long been at the forefront.

The new Huawei OptiXtrans 908 is a device for wavelength multiplexing that offers DC interconnection on a new level. With its intelligent architecture and compact design with both optical and electric ports, it can be installed in just eight minutes!

Huawei OptiXtrans  908 offers unmatched capacity and bandwidth, with 88 Tbit / s @ Super C + L220 λ per fiber pair, continuous development and single-fiber capacity improvement, as well as 100G-800 G programmability, up to 1.6 Tbit / s per slot and up to 6, 4 Tbit / s @ U per subrack. Minimum energy consumption is 0.13 W / G, 35 percent lower than the industry standard.

In summary, Huawei OptiXtrans 908 provides, among other things:

  • Ultra-broadband and a high degree of integration of different data center resourcesc
  • Simplified rollout and distribution - from days to minutes
  • Intelligent and proactive operation and maintenance of large interconnected DC environments - frees up human resources
  • Highest security - strong encryption and access control

Huawei OptiXtrans 908 was recently named "Best in the show" at Interop Tokyo, Japan's largest ICT trade fair, something we at Pedab are of course happy and proud of.
